The Most Wonderful TIme of Year

Even though the weather may not be cooperating, the holiday season is in full swing.
I have been busy getting all of my holiday cards ready. This year I decided to do something a little bit different. Instead of sending out lots of holiday cards to acquaintances, I choose to make little care packs for some close friends. A little kick off to get them into the holiday spirit.
Since they are just going out in the mail, I will leave you with a sneak peak and come back soon with all the festive details.

Don't forget about your holiday cards! Its not to late to get your order in and take advantage of out 10% off sale. Head on over to our website to see some of our latest designs and remember we can always do a custom card for you.

CIBC Run for the Cure

Words can't express how proud, honoured and humbled we felt by today's CIBC Run for the Cure. What an absolutely amazing charity event!
Who would have thought that when Danielle and I joined a "Walk to Run" group in April, we would end up running 5 km to help find the cure for breast cancer?! Yet that was our goal, just a few weeks in, we decided we could do it. We should do it. And today, we did it!!

Our team "Boobies & the Beast" (there was only one man in running group, hence the name) charged the Start Line with hot pink boa's flailing in the wind. LOADS OF LADIES, men, kids and pups hit the street. There were cheerleaders along the way, and tons of strangers encouraging other strangers, so it was easy to stay motivated. Success was in the air, the first group of people to round the halfway point got a huge "hooray", that didn't seem to stop as more and more people rounded the halfway point. Just when I was starting to think about walking, I would see a pink t-shirt, which meant cancer survivor, or a Mom running with a stroller, or even someone my own Mothers age would breeze by me, and I thought—if they can do it?!
When I crossed the finish line, Danielle was already there, cheering me on and crying. Something I hope to never forget. I knew exactly how she felt, bittersweet.
On our drive home, as we reflected on the morning's events, we were full of emotion. So tonight, in honour of our first "real run" I will hold a glass of pink wine (blush) and toast to all the people who made today possible.

Last Chick Leaves our Nest

Well the day finally arrived, come hell or bad hair! Which thankfully we had none of.

A Little Birdie Told Me was in attendance and looking mighty fine, if I do say so myself. I was very proud to have supplied all of the printed material, and it looked amazing. Here's a few pictures, all taken by Jay of Jamieson Dean Photography

Instead of seating cards, I decided to use our awesome and tasty chocolate bar labels. Not only were they functional, with guests names and table number written on them, but tasty too! We decided to display them in guitar cases to highlight the families musical talent (not mine, I stick to designing!!).

My husband (that word still sounds funny to me) and I really had the best time at our wedding; and that was largely due to our fabulous vendors. I remember how completely overwhelmed we were spending all of our spare time searching online, phoning a friend(s) and countless weekends driving from florist to florist; so I thought I'd pass along they're information for those of you planning a wedding or function.

The gorgeous and very yummy cake was from Lisa @ Cakeoholics Cakes

The beautiful flowers were from Kim @ Harvest Designs, 905.775.1412.

D.J. Adryin kept everyone on the dance floor well into the wee hours of the morning.

Last but not least, we hired a classical guitarist, Dunstan Morey to welcome guests before the service began, and also to entertain them while they were enjoying cocktails (and we were off having our pictures taken).

Hair and make-up available upon request.

Here's the rest of A Little Birdie Told Me; Danielle with her hubby and sweet pea, and Jenna being swept off her feet by her hubby.

The rest are some I think are standout photo's that Jay took, enjoy!

So there you have it, our big day in a blog post! Now if I could only sign my properly...

And the winner is…

I apologize for being a little late in posting our winners. Friday got away from me.
Before we get to the winners, I just wanted to thank everyone for helping us celebrate our Blog-iversary. We loved reading all of your comments and seeing which designs you guys liked best.
We look forward to adding to the collection.

Now, on to the winners. We plugged the numbers into random.org and the results were…
Michelle, who liked the bridal shower invite.

And Kristin who just had a little boy and was digging the boy announcement.

Congratulations ladies! Send us off your choice of card along with your address to info@alittlebirdietoldme.ca and we will mail out your prize.

Hopefully I will be back next week with some fab Friday freebies.

A Blog-aversary, a give-away & New Products

You may remember way back to this post, when I mentioned that we had a fun new product coming out. It seems like it has taken us a while to get going but we are finally ready to show off our new fill in announcements and invitations.

We are so excited about these! Of course we always make things that we love and we would be proud to send our friends and family and these definitely fit the bill! With their small size (a little bigger than 4" x 4") and with just a hint of sparkle, they will certainly be a great start to any party or celebration.

Click to see a larger picture.

Each 10 card pack is printed on bright white paper and has been hand embellished for that extra special touch. Envelopes are included.

Look for them soon on our website or in our Etsy store. Of course, you can always contact us at info@alittlebirdietoldme.ca if you would like to order some.

Now, on to more important details!
It has been exactly one year since we started chronicling the (slow but steady) growth of our baby, A Little Birdie Told Me on this wee blog. We took a break during the summer when we got busy (yeah!) with some client jobs but we have big things planned for the fall.

To celebrate we would like to give you a gift!!

Its easy. Here are the rules:
• Leave a comment telling us which design you like best
• Do this before the 24th of September at 8pm.
• Two winners will be randomly selected (using www.random.org). We will mail out 1 pack of the winners choice.
Its that easy.

Good luck to everyone and thank you so much for all your support this past year.
